Every now and then I catch some of the most current seasons of Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta. I must say that EVERYtime I see it, my skin crawls! As a native of Atlanta and a true "Grady Baby", I am disappointed and even embarrassed that this is what the country thinks our women and housewives are like. But I will say that one of them is actually cool though.
I have been cautioned by some friends not to speak my true feelings about them and other local celebrities as they throw a lot of parties throughout the city and I may kill a chance to cook for them. Man please!
I qualify as a person to be able to speak on this because I know a REAL HOUSEWIFE of Atlanta. One who put her own dreams and goals on hold to stay home and raise kids and keep the home. Someone who would actually pays attention to the kids and takes them to school. Helps them with homework and, get this.......COOKS! Who is this woman you ask? My wife, of course.
Spending over six years at home to raise a family, while your dreams get tabled cannot be easy. We agreed that once our daughter began kindergarten and our son was in day care, she would go back and finish her degree. I am proud to say that it's going as planned.
My point is, the show discounts what real housewives give, build, and sacrifice on a daily basis. What is shown on TV is in no way reality. They should change the name of the show to The Real Catfights and Drama of Atlanta (RCDA).
